Many have mixed feelings about this "holiday", and I am certainly not the exception, but as I always try to look on the bright side of things, at least I can use this "holiday" as an excuse to watch romantic movies and eat lots of sweets and ice cream (my ultimate favorite). So here is the list of not only my personal favorites, but the best romantic movies to cry along to on Valentine's Day:

  1. Pride and Prejudice - A classic. Based on the novel by Jane Austen, this is a movie you cannot miss. It involves beautiful and inspiring scenography and intriguing characters as well as a storyline that will make your heart beat faster with each emotion.

  2. The Notebook - Once again, based on a Novel written by Nicholas Sparks, this story is easily one of the most heartbreaking ones. And I am not trying to spoil the ending for you, but let me tell you this: its beauty is in the reality of it, in the sense it gives you that this happens to people in real life, it is heartbreaking since it can even be your own story! Of course, I am exaggerating just a tad but you will understand what I mean once you have watched it.

  3. La La Land - You can't go wrong with music and dancing, like ever. Much less if the cast includes Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone. The songs are super catchy, the dance is fresh, and the storyline will leave your heart feeling as if you were dangling from a cliff. Yes, that bad. My sister and I were never the same after we watched it. Enjoy :)

  4. The Kissing Booth - I know, you thought I was coming up with the"old time" classics and not cheesy-teen-romantic movies. But I can't help it! I am 21 ok, I still cling to that tiny speck of juvenile stupidity. And while this movie certainly is nowhere near as realistic or emotional as the rest, it does include some gentle comedy, the usual romance, and a super hot cast. (See you outside if you got a problem with Jacob Elordi). And a bonus list if you thought this one was cheesy: To All The Boys I've Loved Before, 10 Things I Hate About You, Clueless

  5. The Choice - My sister would not agree with me this is one of the best ones. I have even forgotten about it for some stupid reason. But it is SO cute. It has a little bit of everything. And it is just so wholesome and sad, but a good kind of sad. You really have to give this one a try.

  6. A Walk To Remember - It might be a little "outdated"? Not for me though, it is a very delicate and tender story. Beautiful soundtrack and characters too. It certainly shows how nothing, not even sickness, can stand in the way of pure love.

  7. The Last Song - If anything, you have to watch it just for the cast, c'mon Mile Cyrus along with Liam Hemsworth back when they were young and beautiful (you know, before they messed stuff up). This movie is a mix of pain, art, and beauty. On a beautiful shore, a couple meets in the midst of unusual circumstances but they discover they are not at all that incompatible.

  8. Me Before You - This is an adaptation of a book by Jojo Moyes. It is the most comic yet heart-melting story. You won't see it coming, but just when it all seems impossible even the unexpected happens: feelings you did not know you had resurface. And I might be exaggerating a little but, if you read the book, and then watch the movie (in that order please), you will totally understand what I am talking about.

  9. Five Feet Apart - I use to love this one, I guess I am a bit of a masochist liking stuff like this. And even though it is a tiny bit unrealistic it does bring certain consciousness to it. More like an awareness of what people in the world have to go through but knowing that even in the midst of that love can prevail if only for a tiny bit.

  10. Fools Rush In - I only recently watched this one but it totally caught me by surprise in how much I loved it. The cast was immaculate, my personal favorite being Matthew Perry of course. The movie is so full of passion and hard truths about the reality of marriage. Just make sure to watch until the end and I promise you it will be worth it. It is funny and romantic and brings two different cultures together in a beautiful mixture.

There you go, 10 movies you can begin watching with a bowl of ice cream (strawberry would be ideal) and a box of tissues because your emotions will rocket out of control. But you can give yourself such a treat this being Valentine's Day and all. It is the best way to spend such a day with fictional amusement than with real-life mayhem. And I am not saying real relationships are bad, I am just warning you against expecting a fairy tale romance. It ain't happening that way. You first must know the One Who loves you more than words can explain. One Who is so desperate for you that He literally laid down His life for you on a cross. I think you know who I am talking about and if you don't make sure you send me a message 'cause I am terribly excited to talk about Him with you.

God loves you more,

Dear Ordinary Caro
