A Cozy And Ideal Night-Routine✨

Nighttime is very important for our bodies, regardless of our age. We need time every day to unwind and rest. Personally, I was brought up in a household where we used to go to bed at the same time every night, and this time was rarely past 10 pm...and it might sound extreme to some that cannot sleep before 12 am. But hear me out, if you follow a routine your body will more than likely catch the message and thank you for it.

Begin with a gentle stretch or "wind-down" yoga - this will physically help your body relax and get ready for bed. I usually follow this Youtube channel that provides really good yoga lessons and it has even improved my flexibility!

Follow up with some self-care - taking care of ourselves is crucial in many aspects but I personally feel put together after going over my shower and skin care routines. When the clock hits 8:30 pm I begin this routine and use my favorite products. FUN TIP: listening to a Podcast, music, or watching a Youtube video can make it much more fun!

Do not forget to wear comfy bedclothes! And a blanket too if it is chilly.

This step here is very important to me and very hard to follow at the same time: stop using electronic devices at least one hour before falling asleep. Bet you can see why that is hard, huh? But I did read somewhere that our brains are still actively functioning in our sleep if the last thing our eyes saw was the screen of a phone or tv. That is why a lot of times we feel like our sleep was restless or cut short. To avoid using my phone I just try to place it far from my bed, or even turn it off if it becomes distracting.

And you might ask, what on earth am I going to do from 9 pm until I finally get sleepy? Well, you read! Reading is SO beneficial (like, do not even get me started). Not only will it help improve your grammar and add new words to your vocabulary, but it will also entertain you for hours if need be.

I usually begin this night routine at 8:30 pm with the goal of falling asleep by 10 pm. So by 9 pm, all my devices are on my desk and I am in my bed with a book. To unwind my brain I read for one hour but sometimes (if the book is not catching my attention) I fall asleep even before 10 pm! And again, you may say, "There is no way I will be sleepy enough by 10 pm". And I agree, but here is the secret: exercise during the day. That usually leaves you drained. With one hour of good exercise, whatever type you prefer, your body will not last long after 10 pm, much less midnight.

Finally, there are rewards to following a night routine: relaxing evenings, time to read books, better sleep, and more energy the following day. I have been adhering to routines pretty much my whole life and I can assure you it is worth it to have a structured lifestyle.

God loves you,

Dear Ordinary Caro
